EKO-PACK – Eco-Friendly Packaging!

We are introducing new, eco-friendly packaging to our biossom.bio store. We call them EKO-PACKs! This is our next step towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

It’s important to remember that EKO-PACKs are temporary packaging designed for transport and short-term storage. However, to ensure maximum product safety and freshness, we recommend transferring their contents into higher-barrier packaging, preferably airtight glass containers. This helps prevent food waste and allows you to enjoy your products for longer.

What Are EKO-PACKs?

EKO-PACK is a doypack-style package, a pouch with a wide base and a zipper seal. Compared to jars, these packages are lighter and allow for larger product quantities while taking up less space. But there’s more!

EKO-PACKs are designed with the environment in mind and have undergone rigorous compostability testing in accordance with PN-EN 14806:2010 standards. In simulated composting conditions, they fully decompose within 66 days. This means that after use, you can be confident that our packaging does not burden the environment.

Important Storage Information

EKO-PACKs are an ideal temporary packaging solution for transport and short-term storage. However, to maintain the highest quality and freshness, we recommend transferring their contents into high-barrier containers, preferably airtight glass jars. This will help prevent food waste and allow you to enjoy your products for longer.

EKO-PACKs do not provide a sufficient barrier – if you choose to store food in them long-term, you risk losing flavor, aroma, and texture properties such as moisture, juiciness, softness, or crispiness, depending on the product.

Our new packaging is not ordinary plastic pouches. EKO-PACKs are made from renewable raw materials such as corn, potatoes, wood, and sugarcane. They offer excellent barrier properties against gases and moisture, good sealing performance, and high mechanical strength. They are fully biodegradable, allergen-free, and GMO-free, making them the perfect choice for eco-conscious consumers.

Packaging Manufacturer

Our packaging is produced by a company specializing in biodegradable laminates and packaging. They actively support the "Think Green" program, which promotes eco-friendly solutions and environmental education.

The packaging has undergone laboratory tests confirming its 100% decomposition within 66 days under simulated composting conditions. Additionally, biodegradation tests have been conducted using a modern composting system with microbiological technology, capable of processing approximately 5 kg of organic material per day. The resulting pre-compost can be further utilized for various applications.
